The Addictive Blog Award

Precious at Clockwork Desires and Alyssa at The Devil Orders Takeout have both been lovely people and nominated me for the Addictive Blogger Award! Thank you both—it’s fun to be addictive. I’m like a drug, folks, with the added bonus of not being illegal!

Anyway, we must get to the tag.

The Rules:
  • Thank the person awarding you.
  • Share a little about why you blog and how the journey started.
  • Paste the blog award on your page.
  • Nominate 10 other bloggers you feel deserve the award.

I’ve told this story like three times before, so I’ll tell a different piece.

~

This is my second blog. The first was called Stuck Inside my head, and had a grand total of five posts. They were about computers vs. the mind, Hera, Batman, Artemis Fowl, and gambling.

Then nobody read my posts and I got fed up and I deleted the blog. But, I still wanted to blog, because I heard it was great—it just felt like a chore and why would anybody want to blog? Nobody even reads blogs, and it’s just another place to be lonely on the Internet.

However, I also spent time making A Timeline of Atomic Theory for my chemistry class, and I actually find formatting a blog and linking and whatnot quite fun. If only it were a viable way to communicate.

In the end, with many long nights with good friends who weren’t afraid to kick me in the pants, I got started. And even though no one really read my blog I kept going. Until I found people to read my blog. And now I guess people are reading my blog and they think it’s worth their time to do so.

So thank you for finding my blog worth reading—I appreciate it.

~

Onto the tags?

Well, two I would have chosen have already disqualified themselves by tagging me (sorry, ladies) so I’ll just have to find some other people… Here!

So, how did you get started blogging? And, for fun, what are the three most addictive blogs you know?

  1. I'm trying to imagine heather-the-plant being a legal drug :P And I totally know what you mean, all the tags ask for your blogging origins. I do believe I've seen your atomic theory timeline, which is totally awesome by the way. I suppose everyone starts out shouting into the void (which is why I am SO impressed by those month-or-so old blogs who have regular commenters. like HOW.) but we all end up writing for our readers :D

My pleasure to nominate you for this award, despite disqualifying myself!

    1. There are a lot of legal drugs where I live, lol. There should be some blog tags out there that ask you to describe your favorite sandwich or discuss something that fascinates you as a human but maybe doesn't have anything to do with your blog. Maybe I'll make one of those. The atomic theory timeline, by the way, got an A, so I guess my teacher agreed. :) You're right, though—I don't know what these people do to make friends!

      Thanks so much, Alyssa!

  2. Technically, I've been blogging for five years. But I've been blogging for actual people for one! My dad set me up (so nice to have a web designer for a dad!) five or six years ago with a blog so I could talk about my cat, what I ate for lunch, etc., and my family and friends were the only people who read it. Then one day, the one person I didn't know in real life who read my blog nominated me for a blog award, like this one! I had no idea these even existed! Soon I discovered a whole world of bloggers and decided to start a blog specifically for books, for other people to read! It's going great so far, and I love it! :)

    1. That's an interesting origin story you have yourself! It's cool that you were able to practice writing, but it's also cool that people have nominated you and included you in the blogosphere! It's certainly awesome here!

  3. Thanks for tagging me! I love hearing blog inception stories. It's always rough getting over that first hump of no one reading, but once you do there's no going back:)

    1. Welcome! They're awesome, yes, yes—I hate writing them but I love to read them. It's always fun to see what was their "past the point of no return" moment!

  4. Yay, thanks for accepting the award! It's a good thing you came back to blogging, otherwise we wouldn't have "Heather the Velociraptor." XD

    1. XD Thanks for tagging me! You're right, it would be an unfortunate blogosphere indeed.

  5. Thanks for tagging me! (Also, if you're wondering why I haven't commented in a while, it's because I'm woefully behind on reading blogs. But I will get to you! I promise--because all that you've posted recently looks exciting. I just happened to read this post first, which was fortunate because otherwise I might not have gotten to the tag for like--a while. *catches breath*) :D

Check it out, comments and stuff. I love to hear from readers, and I always respond to commenters! Here's the fun part—if you leave a link to your blog I'll show up and comment back. I have just one rule down here: Don't Be a Problem. This spans the entire umbrella of rudeness and crudeness, so I reiterate: Don't Be a Problem. Thanks for stopping by!
